Welcome!
Edison Middle School is located on Janesville's south side. We house three grade levels of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Our staff includes 55 professional educators, 30 support staff, a full-time academic learning coach, one school counselor, one student services person, a principal, an assistant principal, a part-time social worker, a speech-language teacher, and a school psychologist.
Edison Middle School serves a variety of learners. We are the home of the district’s Middle School Talented and Gifted Program. Presently, there are 60 students in the English Language Learner (ELL) Program. Edison serves students with disabilities in the areas of speech and language, hearing impairment, specific learning disabilities, autism, behavioral disabilities, and cognitive disabilities.
Each grade level houses two pods of students as they learn their core academics (Reading, Math, Communication Arts, Social Studies, and Science). Students also enjoy opportunities in exploratory classes such as music appreciation, choir, technology education, computers, family and consumer education, art, world languages, health, and physical education. These courses expand student horizons and develop lifelong skills and interests.
All students can benefit from the many sports and clubs offered at Edison Middle School. Here is a list of some of the opportunities for students: Human Relations Club, Builder’s Club, CLC (Community Learning Center; students receive academic, nutritional, and health information), Mentoring program, Breakfast Club, musical and play productions, and the Eagle’s Nest Fitness Center where students and their families can come to work out after school. Students may also attend Saturday School once a month where they receive practice and instruction in math and reading.
At Edison diversity is honored, all seven hundred students are held to high expectations, and learning is the central part of every day.
